Recording from a vhs player

I am trying to record from a vhs player, I do not get any picture when I hit play. What am I doing wrong? I can see audio flashing

how do you even connect the vhs with obs? is it even compatible?

Via video capture dvd maker, I have down thru a 8mm video camera to convert to digital now trying to get VHS tapes converted
