Hey all.

I'm trying to use OBS Studio to record gameplay. After a couple weeks of messing around, I feel like I've got an idea of how this should be done, but I'm not entirely should how to do it.

I have Mic > DAC > PC > OBS RECORD & Discord.

Then Game Audio/Discord > PC > ADC > Headset.

What I want to do is split the audio off into multiple audacity recordings on the local machine.

Mic > Audacity 1

Discord > Audacity 2

Then have the Game be played on my machine, but recorded on a secondary machine hooked up over ethernet.

Here's a diagram I made. http://i.imgur.com/2IZyMfQ.png

Is this possible?

Kind regards.

Hi,

If you want to spilt your audio more than the two you have one for mic one for game / headphones then you will need to also include some additional virtual cables. This will give you more flexibility to mix tracks or to keep them separate. The two free VC are

VB-Cable
&
Virtual Audio Cable.

In the diagram the audio going to PC 2 will only be on a single track also.

Hi Bob, thanks for the reply. How would I actually send the video and audio feed from game to the second PC, that seems to be my biggest hurdle.

The virtual audio cables seem to be the way to go with splitting mic input and discord. Thanks!

Hi,

Video via HDMI output from First PC into a capture card on the second PC. Depending if you want to keep the audio separate you have different options,

1. You can send the audio over the hdmi as most have this as a default option.
2. You can use a 3.5mm audio cable with a splitter and connect the splitter end to the first PC's audio output into the speakers / headphones and the non splitter end into the line in on the second PC. Note you might also need a dehummer if you are getting noise / interference.

Virtual cable allows you to keep / have individual audio tracks if this isn't required then you wont need it use it.
