Question / Help record desktop while using virtual camera for a specific window

I have two use cases for OBS that I cannot find how to combine:
1. using virtual camera to capture a python output window and use it as a source for e.g. zoom / facebook live
2. record either the whole desktop or the browser/zoom window
AFAIU this is not possible with a single instance of OBS. I am wondering what is the recommended practice for my combined use case.

while it would be great to do it with a single instance but opening two OBS windows does seem to be an easy fix for this use-case.

Using the virtual cam plugin (link here) instead of the inbuilt virtual cam allows you to apply a filter to a scene for virtual camera output and support multiple virtual cameras.
