Dear all,
I am currently using an old Terratec G3 VHS capture device on MacOS Mojave. It works ok with the Terratec capture software which is very limited and has some big drawbacks.
This Terratec G3 device is not recognized by OBS Studio and I believe there is no was to have it work. If there is a way to make it work, please tell me! :)

Do you have some recommended VHS video capture device running on MacOS Mojave or Catalina, which is recognized and usable by OBS Studio?
Is the Elgato video capture device usable with OBS Studios? https://www.elgato.com/fr/video-capture

Thanks in advance!

Avoid Elgato on MacOS, their support and transparency with regards to what devices are supported for use with OBS on MacOS is bad. They have been known to promote devices as "compatible with OBS" and "compatible with MacOS" without noting that either it won't work with OBS *when running on MacOS* or doing so requires kludgy extra software (that's what OBS Link is; it talks directly to a device they ship that does not have native video device drivers for MacOS and generates an NDI feed, necessitating the installation of a 3rd party plugin and other software on MacOS-- software that as of this week is actually broken for some users when NewTek updated NDI from 4.1 to 4.5.

When I see system requirements that say "MacOS 10.6.8" I think this is something released ages ago and perhaps never updated, and who knows if it works on current MacOS or with current OBS.

For capture on MacOS I reccommend Magewell, BlackMagic, and AJA.

If all you need is standard def capture from VHS via composite or component input, a BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle would suffice and should work with OBS.
