Question / Help Really basic question

I am new to all of this but I want to grab two pieces of a video into one file. I get the video running and hit Start Recording where I want the first part to start. When that part is done I hit Stop Recording. I want to start it again on another part of the video but the file is closed. How do I not close the file so I can add the second part? Thanks I now this is a stupid question and the answer should be right in front of me.

You can't...People have been asking for a 'pause' function but so far it's not been implemented..

Wow Thanks. I just thought I was missing something. I am surprised there is no work around.
