Can a physical switcher/mixer be used with studio?

If so, please comment on the advantages/disadvantages of doing so.

Do you have a particular model in mind? I have an audio mixer and I use OBS but that doesn't mean we can say definitively that what you want will work.

I do not have a mixer and I have not set up Studio. I am assuming that OBS sees the mixer as just another input. Is that correct?

I am looking for a 4 core @ 2.5 Mhz and 8 gig of ram. My computer will not handle OBS.

Yes an audio mixer, provided it has a USB input, not all of them do will just be seen as a device in Windows and you can access it in OBS.
