I've done some tests today (on Raspbian): I tried to do a screen recording and only got about 3 fps with avconv x11grab (720p h.264 ultrafast). This is CPU-intensive software encoding. However, it is also possible to use the built-in hardware acceleration (1080p 30fps h.264) for video encoding.
So could we theoretically achieve acceptable framerates for streaming or recording with hardware acceleration?
P.S.: Shouldn't this thread be moved to Linux Support?
i'd be interested in using my banana pi for capturing/streaming my webcam maybe. the C920 has a built in H264 encoder, i wonder if this would be a decent device for this. OR maybe just a nginx server that merely pushes my stream to multiple services.
