Question / Help Quick question about CPU usage preset for recording

Hello, guys!

I have a question for you. I'm doing some videos and after trying a lot, the best for me is ultrafast CPU usage preset. Now, as far as the program says, that's less CPU usage, that means my GPU does all the job?

I'm just wondering because, after 4-5 years, my Sapphire 7850 2GB OC died. In last 2 years, I started making some videos, something like 40-50 videos in total. Maybe was because of this? Or maybe just died for any unknown reason.

I want to know more about this because I have a new video card now and I don't want to have another GPU dead.

I have an old i5 2500k, 8gb ram and now I own a gtx950 2GB OC. I need to set up my setting to ultrafast because if not, everything looks like laggy, but with these settings my recording is very good. I use 1920x1080, 60fps, CRF 18, high profile and process priority high.

By the way, the downscale filter does anything for me? I mean I record at 1920x1080 and my output is 1920x1080, no scaling at all, should I use bilinear? Or it doesn't matter?

What do you think guys? What I'm doing is totally fine and normal or I killed my own video card? Thanks for the help.

ultrafast preset just uses less advanced math to do the compression. since you're using crf based bitrate selection, that translates out to larger files as the cost to the reduced cpu usage.

Ok, good to know so I don't need to worry about, right? My dead card died for another reason probably, maybe bad luck.
