Question about data from OBS

Hi, I want to practice my java/c skills and i'd like to make a simple program that gets the current timestamp of the current recording when i hit a hotkey. I'm looking for any resources or guides to point me in the right direction. I have 10+ years of developing web sites but not anything like this. thanks

With respect to making a program that logs the current timestamp, doesn't the InfoWriter plugin do that?
