Question / Help Question about audio dubbing

Hey all. I am just starting out with game capture and have a question:

I would like to simply record gameplay and then add commentary later as I am still waiting for a better micraphone to arrive in the mail. Can I do that with the studio version? If so what is involved?

Thanks.

Technically I think you can do it with OBS as you would need to select the prerecorded game footage as your source and then make a recording with your microphone while it plays back. But there are some downsides to that method. For example you cannot edit it easily (if you misspeak i.e.). Another method I can recommend is to use an audio recording software like Audacity, playback the game footage video and make your audio recording (similar to the former method, but editable). When you're done you only have to mux both tracks (audio and video) together. If you want your commentary not to be separated from the game audio, you can merge them in Audacity as well. This is just an example, there are plenty of audio recording tools and other methods out there as well.
