I'll preface this with saying that I'm not knowledgeable on the technicalities of recording, and I'm following various guides from other people to record VR footage from the game's VR mirror. I've used the following method:
-1080p monitor upscaled to 3840x2160
-recording mkv, CBR, 24,000kbps
-base resolution and output resolution 2560x1440 (for best VR FOV in 16:9; other base resolutions were either zoomed in too much or zoomed out too much, and/or exposed the VR mask)
And this is what it used to look like: https://i.imgur.com/sSXn7gQ.png
Not perfect, but clear enough to read most of the important gauges.
Some days ago I found my Windows display setting was set to 59Hz for some weird reason, and when I corrected it to 60Hz my monitor defaulted back to native 1080p, so I had to re-add the Nvidia custom resolution to upscale back up to 3840x2160.
Since then my OBS footage has been pixellated crap like this (screengrab is 1080p but at 1440p it looks the same): https://i.imgur.com/4MBV4oO.png
I've tried higher bitrate (30,000), I've tried CQP at 20, I've tried Lossless, I've tried every combination of base/output resolution and it always looks the bleeding same. I've confirmed the gaming mirror and it's crystal clear, so I don't know what's going on. Any ideas?
