Question / Help Quality of Hauppauge HD PVR 2 dropping more and more on OBS Studio

I don't know what's happening with OBS Studio and Hauppauge HD PVR2 but the quality went from top notch to awful with recent updates when you use it through obs studio.

Issues with recent updates :
- Frame drops
- Delay With Video and Audio
- Freezes

I know my Hauppauge is working fine because it's very smooth looking (recording, streaming or just a simple preview) in any other compatible program minus OBS Studio.

It feels like i'm complaining but not the way i want it to be because i know it was a very hard and long work to get the Hauppauge to work on OBS BUT I don't understand why it went from Perfect Feed to Average or even awful sometimes.

It's just to point it out because nobody seems to be aware of it (or just don't have an hauppauge and i should slap myself for having one XD)

Hope It Will help i'll try to check the thread and throw any data or informations if someone ask them.

Have a nice day.

PS : It may have something to do with the shorter delay on OBS studio than other tools.

Nothing has been changed with the HDPVR support in any recent updates as far as I know. Post a log or identify the last version where it worked well if you think it's a version-specific issue.

Ok so it seems like it just needed a bit more CPU Charge than before so i changed from superfast to Faster and works fine now.

Still put my last log file because it seems there was still a Small desync Video/Sound during my last stream but seems to be better.

I'll keep the thread up if i encounter new issues even with my new settings.

It looks like your USB controller can't handle the webcam and HDPVR at the same time. Try moving the webcam to a different USB port, make sure everything is plugged directly into the motherboard using the ports on the back of the PC.

Ok so after testing a lot around the HD PVR 2 from Hauppauge i know why it was so bad looking in OBS Studio.

The HD PVR 2 used to have an "Old School" Video Peripheral Setting Window where you could change everything and obs would use that as settings for the HD PVR.

The problem is that window doesn't exist anymore (or the access is hidden and i don't know where it is).

So due to that you have 2 issues :
- You have no way to access the settings of the hauppauge through OBS.
- Changing them in Hauppauge Capture doesn't work either.

So i was really wondering how it works then.

In the end OBS Studio is just taking OBS Studio Settings (so your stream frame rate, stream bitrate, stream resolution in the case you are stream obviously) and use them for the HD PVR 2 as well.

So if you don't want a bad looking Hauppauge, you have to stream at least at 720P and 2KBits and maybe 60FPS (that one is not mandatory though) if you want to have a good looking hauppauge (it has effect on the preview itself).

Maybe i'm stupid that i didn't figure that out but if it can help people in the future i'm glad i've been a bit stupid XD.

Basically, it's kinda Hauppauge fault in that matter but maybe having a way to seperate those settings would be nice in the future but until then that's the only way i figured how to setup the hauppauge correctly.
