Pull now playing music from another computer

Hi,

1st of all really sorry if this is already somewhere on here, I have used your search function and found many things but nothing specific to what I want.

Basically I have a dedicated streaming system and use a capture card to capture any other device I am using at the time.

What I want to be able to do is display on my OBS screen what is playing on my main computer, Basically so I can listen to the music same as the stream.
So if I have music playing on my system then output that data to something like Dropbox for example and then get OBS on the other system do grab that data and display it on the stream.

Can this be done? If so what resource would I need?

Thank you.

Hi,

After posting this 2 hours ago I have been told of a way that might actually do just what I want it to do.
I was supplied this link to use with foobar2000 http://skipyrich.com/wiki/Foobar2000:Now_Playing_Simple
I will test this a bit later on today but the gist of it is that foobar write to that file and have the location of that shared within my private home network and then OBS read from that on my streaming system.

Hopefully will work.

If there is any other way to do it then I would be grateful for any advice that might be better.

Thank you

Tony

Update,

It worked. If anyone else is thinking of doing the same thing what I said above works like a charm :)

Bummer that Foobar doesnt have a server that it saves the small file to so you can pull it up without setting up a share drive (which sometimes gets wonky between my Mac and Windows machine).
