Question / Help PS4 Remote Play HUGE lag, but no camera lag?

Hey folks. This is my first post so I appreciate your patience with me.

I'm using OBS and PS4 Remote Play to stream my games on Twitch. The Remote Play itself runs flawlessly, the OBS though shows a significant lag with the video game but NOT the webcam filming me. The Twitch stream shows the same thing.

Webcam of me streams fine, but the game (the bigger picture in a PIP setup) stutters tremendously.

My upload rate is 6.68Mbps so I set the bitrate to 3000, then 2500, then 300 - and it all looks the same. Slow game stream, not slow camera stream.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you. I can show recorded video of the stream if that helps. (and if you dont mind me cussin)

Using PS4 remote play on my computer. That window, and the window of my webcam is the pic in pic I want to display. The camera looks great, but something is lost between remote play and obs

If the Remote Play window is working by itself, I'd guess the lag is coming from the way you're capturing Remote Play within OBS, or maybe OBS is doing more rescaling than it ought to.

What capture method are you using to bring the Remote Play window into OBS? What's the resolution of the Remote Play window and what's the resolution of the OBS canvas?

I really have no idea. I'm so new to the whole thing. What do you recommend I do in order to use remote play and obs clearly?

The remote play window is high res. Not sure of the numbers. And I set up obs to very high as well

Choosing Remote Play as game capture source would be preferable, but if that's how you have it set up currently and it's lagging, using display capture and cropping down to the area around the window is the second best method. Window capture on Mac doesn't work well.

You should also look at the resolution settings in Remote Play for the size of the window, the size of the canvas in OBS and the resolution of the stream itself in OBS. My rule of thumb is to have the game's resolution, or Remote Play's in this case, match the canvas resolution to reduce the processing load on OBS.

A quick search shows a number of tutorials for configuring Remote Play with OBS. Check 'em out and don't be afraid to get into the settings and explore.
