Can someone please help me to figure out what may be wrong? I am playing on ps4 and I am just continuing to have some severe lag issues and I've checked everything with my connections including internet and everything seems fine, but when I looked over on my OBS I noticed my cpu usage had gone up. I have attached the log file, can someone please help me I think my lag issue has to do with OBS. Thank you in advance!

OBS isn't reporting any significant dropped frames in that logfile.

00:39:51.812: Output 'adv_stream': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 39 (0.0%)
00:39:51.812: [rtmp stream: 'adv_stream'] Freeing 1 remaining packets
00:39:51.814: Video stopped, number of skipped frames due to encoding lag: 1/278424 (0.0%)

Thank you Narcogen! Would you have any ideas why my CPU would jump to 39-40% when I'm streaming? I had adjusted all the necessaries to make sure the CPU would not run hard so my stream is only at the 720. After the obs update from couple months ago everytime I open my obs to start the live stream my webcam setting is always off to another setting different from the one that I had saved it at and it's everytime I open my obs now I have to readjust the settings.
Thank you again for your reply and help!

x264 is a CPU-based encoder -- whenever you stream, you're encoding the video, so this is why your CPU usage jumps up. Something you should be able to do though is switch to QuickSync for your encoder, which will use the QuickSync encoder portion of your iGPU to do the heavy lifting.

To the original point though... what lag are you experiencing? Are you seeing lag on your PS4? If so, then that's likely because you're streaming -- this is data being sent across your internet connection, which (depending on both your home network and your connection to the ISP) will be fighting with your PS4 for priority, which may cause delayed packets in low-latency dependent situations (i.e. gaming).

Thank you for your reply carlmmii!!! I do have Quickync.

The lag that I am experiencing is while I'm on PS4, I've check my internet connection and with my isp and the speeds are really good and the speeds for my internet while testing on my pc is on avg. download speed between 780-980mb and upload speed: between 780-980mb, but I do know that for the ps4 the internet speeds are not as high and when testing those connections the speeds fluctuate for download between 320-650mb and upload speed is at 150mb. I wanted to take an extra step to make sure my connections were as good as they can so I have cat 6 ethernet connected directly to my ps4 to the modem router and I have a brand new cat 7 ethernet connected directly from my pc to the modem router. My brother also plays on his own ps4 with me and his ps4 is also connected with a cat 6 ethernet connected directly to the modem router as well. This has been so frustating with the immense inconsistency with the lags while playing because some days the gaming is okay and it's not that bad, but for the most days the lag spikes are just so annoying.

Is there any other ideas or suggestions that you could recommend to me to save my sanity...lol!!!

Thanks again for replying!!!

Ok, so it's definitely not an issue of reaching a bandwidth cap!

That's more going to be an issue of packet prioritization, which is mainly controlled by your router. Some routers have the ability to detect high priority traffic (each router will call this feature something different unfortunately), so it may be worth a look to see what you can do within the router's dashboard.

Past that, there's nothing much you can do on the OBS side of things -- OBS's job is to make sure it's sending out the data stream necessary to keep the stream buffer happy. Past that, it doesn't care about how things are interfering along the way to the ISP.

okay carlmmii, once again, thank you so much for your help! I will go back to my router's dashboard setting and try opening the dmz up and forwarding more ports. I hope this can help *fingers crossed*.
Thank you!
