Question / Help PS4: how to hear AND capture audio from the card

I have AverMedia LGX and I'd like to stream from PS4. My goal is to hear my PS4 in my PC headphones, and to capture the sound at the same time, but I don't want to capture my desktop audio. Browser, Discord, whatever I may have enabled in the background, I would like none of it to be captured.

I currently have these settings:

So, my capture card is "Capture audio only" which lets it function as a separate audio device:

As you can see above, I'm monitoring, so I can hear it in my speakers. But for some reason it doesn't get recorded.

I thought if the volume bar is active, this means the audio will be picked up by OBS, but this doesn't seem to happen. What am I missing?

OK, I think I found out the problem! OBS can't capture the sound if the monitor/output device is the Default sound device while that Default sound device is also in the list of devices of the scene (even if it's muted). What I had to do was go into Settings > Audio > Desktop Audio and completely disable it but leave my Default device (Sound Blaster speakers) as the monitoring device, and now it works.

Be advised that if you build another scene collection for capturing a local game, this configuration will be problematic. If you set your default device as the monitor but then try to capture local audio, you will get echo.
