Hi guys and OBS team,

I am having problems with recording multiple audio track.

In the Output setting, I have tick all checkboxes audio track 1,2,3,4.

So in the mixer setting, I have tried these various way for the problems.

- Recording the only the game audio which desktop audio, with just one audio track checkbox ticked, works fine. So audio track 1, 2, 3 and 4, are fine.

- However, when recording just the mic, audio track 1 could not record any sound. Audio track 2,3 and 4 seem appear to be fine.

- Next, I tried game audio, with audio track 1 selected, together with mic audio track 1, 2, 3, and 4. Audio track 1 for both, sound recorded. Audio track 2, 3, and 4 only have the mic audio, no game audio.

- Next, I tried game audio, with audio track 2 selected. With mic audio track 1, no sound recorded at all. With mic audio track 2, both game and mic audio recorded but this will combine both audio into 1 track. With mic audio track 3 and 4, only mic audio recorded.

- Next, game audio track 3 selected. With mic audio track 1, only game audio recorded. With mic audio track 2, only mic audio recorded. with mic audio track 3, both game and mic audio recorded. With mic audio track 4, only game audio recorded.

Lastly, game audio track 4 selected. With mic audio track 1 and 2, only game audio recorded. With mic audio track 3, only mic audio recorded. With mic audio track 4, both game and mic audio recorded.

So it seems that only if both game and mic audio are on the same track then both can be recorded.

Before this happen, it can record both game and mic audio on the different tracks. I not sure what really cause the problem.

I wonder is it because of the hotkeys. Because after I set the hotkeys for start and stop recording, this happen.

I have attached my log files. Please take a look at them. I'm not an expert to understand what are the logs. I don't see any error though.

Let me know what you guys have found out.

I think meanwhile I have to use audacity to record the mic separate.

Thanks.

What are you using to play back your recordings and check what's been recorded?

My setup is as follows:

I have three audio sources. My mic, Skype (via virtual audio cable) and game audio.

Track 1 in OBS has all three sources checked.
Track 2 is my mic.
Track 3 is Skype.
Track 4 is the game.

All record as expected.

My playback device is just my default speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio).

My recording device is Neewer 700 condenser mic with Icicle which provide phantom power and also make it into an usb mic. So my computer recognize the mic as Blue Icicle usb mic.

I also have a logitech c920 webcam plugged in. I want to use this as my facecam. It has mic built in. I not sure if this will affect the recording.

I'm not using the mic from my logitech c920 webcam.

I didn't set up any skype yet. I'm still kinda new to OBS so I'm not quite sure how to set up skype with obs.

My computer is windows 10, gtx970, 16gb ram.

So yeah, I not sure what went wrong.

Oh and by the way, I have tried viewing the video in VLC, windows media player and windows 10 Film and TV. All have the same result.

Don't forget when VLC plays back a multiple audio track video it does not mix all the tracks together for you. You have to go to Audio, Audio Track and select the relevant track.

Just an update, I tried recording again. This time I imported the mp4 straight into Sony Vegas, all sounds recorded. After rendered, the video looks and sounds just fine.

Why is this so?

Any idea?

This is simply "amazing".

VLC will only play back one audio track at a time, so you'd need to mix them together in an editing package, or with something like ffmpeg, or just check all the boxes for one track in OBS, depending on what your requirements are. If you don't want to adjust your levels or edit each audio track individually after they're recorded, just put them all on the same track in OBS. Otherwise, as you've already done, pull the file into Vegas, do the edits, and render it from there, and it will render down all the input tracks into a single output track.
