Question / Help Problems setting up OBS for Twitch Stream with specific games.

Alright, I've been looking at this for a while and started to and successfully streamed once today. I decided to set up a few other captures for when I'm ready to do them, and ONE game would not let me use specific window capture. it is Mass Effect. I can how ever use specific SCREEN capture and that works as far as i can tell. This is my problem:

I am going to stream ME, ME2 and ME3... ME2 and ME3 I can set up to use specific window capture. ME I must use display capture. I do like my desktop backgrounds but I don't want them shown when i drop the window of ME to shut the stream down... Does this make sense?

Hi! Please post a log from session where you experience the issues that you're describing.

You should be using Game Capture for games, unless they are Windows Store Apps (Metro/UWP). If, for some reason, you absolutely must use Display Capture, you can crop the source to only include a specific area. You can also switch to a blank scene in OBS so that you're not showing anything.

i thought of this but in order to switch to a blank screen i have to drop the mass effect window and thus the screen will be visible for a time. I *WANT* it to be on game capture hmmm and my backgrounds are centered thus i wouldn't be able to capture my full game which is 1920 by 1080. There are issues with Mass Effect and OBS. perhaps i'll have to get another streaming software for it. hmmm.. thanks for the ideas i'll try some of those.. anyone else have a few more i could try? any way to get Mass Effect to be visible in the Game Capture mode?

aaaand Just like that with the new version 0.16.5 it started working! amazing. thanks for helping, though I hate to say it, i did nothing new that i didn't do last night. :)

i can see many things, but the final three entries are where I went ahead and tried to get it set up:

the capture mode currently is GAME CAPTURE set to a specific window. for Mass Effect, it won't display on obs' window yet mass effect 2 and 3 will with the same settings. I know there are issues with Mass Effect and OBS, it's just wierd.

Hi! Please post a log from session where you experience the issues that you're describing.

Run OBS as an administrator. Also, you should probably only have one Game Capture source per scene.

Thank you. that was it. ME's window was taking administrative control. so one shot in, even with the other games in the "scene" it worked fine.

I did however make a scene for each game, I am new to this and still learning though I was saying that I didn't see that you said it before and I found it...

oh i was more commenting on you pointing to your first time suggesting the log, and it was either take it as being sarcasm since i had found the first one and was the one that missed it or take it as you being a jerk and since i didn't know you and you did help and have done so i took that as sarcasm.
