Question / Help Problems recording games with OBS

Hi all.
I really like the possibilities that OBS has to offer, and want to record with it. But I'm having problems getting good results with it, and hope you guys can help me.
I've used Nvidia's in-game overlay to record, and as for performance, it has been working great. I've just set the bitrate to 40mbps, resolution and 60FPS, and started recording. Decent performance ingame and good video.

When I try the same setting with OBS, I get terrible performance in game, and the video stutters like crazy. I've tried over 40 times with different settings over the last couple of days, but I've ran out of ideas now.
I just keep thinking that, if the Nvidia thing can record well on my system, OBS should be able to too, right?

I hope this is the right logfile:

Hopefully you guys cant tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks in advance :)

Did you try completely disabling nvidia's ingame overlay while using OBS?
Did you try using simple output mode, indistinguishable recording quality, FLV format, nvenc encoder?

Yes I tried to completely disable the Nvidia thing, and I tried simple mode, FLV format and Nvec encoder. The Nvec encoder gives me better results than the x264, but still not comparable to the Nvidia program, still a lot of in game stutter and laggy videos.
I'm sorry but English isnt my native language, so I dont quite understand what you mean by "indistinguishable recording quality"?

In settings - output, while in simple output mode, there's a "Recording quality" section. Set that to indistinguishable.

I will try that.
One question though, should I be using a "display capture" or a "Game capture"? I'm recording a game I play in VR.

I really appreciate your help and fast reply's here Harold, thanks a bunch :)

Your suggestions has given me the best performance yet. The in game stutter was still noticeable, but now playable, and the video is only lagging in the beginning, when there are a lot of cars in the field og view (Project cars 2). So We are getting closer, but not quite there yet. Any other suggestions?
I tried both display capture and game capture, and there wasnt a big difference.
