Bug Report Problem with Catalina and mouse tracking/latency

Hi there,

My son is attempting to use OBS Studio 24.0.6 (64 Bit) on an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) with macOS Catalina 10.15.3 and running into an issue where as soon as OBS launches the mouse becomes almost unusable. The cursor tracking of the mouse doesn't update on the screen and you have to move and click blind to be able to action things.

Things I have tried in an attempt to resolve the issue:
  • Downgrade to OBS Studio 24.0.5, experienced the same issue
  • Changed to using a wireless rather than the supplied bluetooth mouse and even resorted to using a corded (USB) mouse, no difference
  • Disabled the secondary 27" LG monitor to ensure that it wasn't a problem with dual displays, no difference
  • Dropped the recording resolution down as low as possible with a frame rate down to 10fps, no difference
He was able to use OBS Studio on this iMac with the same mouse and external monitor prior to upgrading to Catalina.

Has anyone had this issue or is able to provide any guidance on how to resolve this issue?

Same problem here (Catalina, OBS 25.0.8). I am using two user accounts. One is an admin account the other is a regular account. It works fine on the admin accounts! It doesn't work on the other one. Switching off mouse tracking works too, but the downside is that you don't see the mouse cursor in the recording.

Ahhhh, very interesting. I hadn't thought to try via the admin account. Will give it a go later and report back.

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the suggestion @KHBerlin.

It looks like if you have more than one user logged in then it triggers the performance issue. I logged out the admin and logged in as my sons account and OBS works perfectly :-)

He’s very happy and will likely use all of out bandwidth uploading Fortnight videos to YouTube lol
