Problem when recording videos on a virtual desktop

Hi.

I usually record videos on the virtual desktop while using the main one. Until a few days ago, everything was working correctly, however now when I switch the desktop OBS records only the audio while the video images remain frozen or a black screen appears.

Has something changed with the software or is it a problem with my pc?

I know, I have exactually the same problem, the window shows ok in preview but doesn't record (black). Is there an easy way to roll back the OBS updates, or is a windows 10 problem??

Below you can find the list of all OBS releases with download links:

I suggest to uninstall the current version, restart your pc then install an older version. I tried with the 26.0.0-rc3 one, but the problem still remains. Please, let me know if you have success with another version or if you find the solution.

I found a work around for recording in VR using Virtual Desktop :-) I was trying to record Nok. So have the following setting that seems for work.

Upgraded Virtual Desktop to 1.17.1
Add a window capture source to VR View (vrmonitor.exe) window in a OBS scene
Set the windows capture method to Window Graphics Capture (for W10 1903 and above)
Tick Client View
Make sure the VR View is undocked and running in fullscreen.

And be careful were the cursor is located so it doesn't get recorded. I only tested with NMS and The Forrest, but should work for all Steam VR games using the VR View window. Also turned off W10 Game Mode (haven't tested it with Game Mode switched back on.

Hope that helps.

I know that this is a bit of an old thread, but I managed to fix that problem with using Firefox instead of Chrome on my virtual desktop. No more blackscreen.
