Hello, I heard that many youtubers are using OBS and this is an open source software. If I use this software to record videos of my screen, can I be sure that the recordings won't be accessible by somebody else?

I noticed that above the "Start Recording" button, there is a "Start Streaming" button. I suppose the latter is for showing the public whatever being recorded. In case I use OBS for internal private use only, are there settings that I should turn on/off to prevent videos from leaking to the public? Can I disable that "Start Streaming" button in case I press it by mistake?

Recording saves a video file to your local harddisk. No data leaves your computer. Streaming sends video data to the configured streaming provider. If you don't configure a streaming provider, the "start streaming" button has no function.

If u use a utility (like on Mac OS a good one is little snitch) to monitor outgoing connections you will see OBS is totally fine. I am a proper privacy nut and I can say 100% OBS is totally safe in all regards. Have no fear and dive in.

I did not configure a streaming provider but under Settings=>Stream, I have by default:

Service: Twitch
Connect Account (recommended)
User Stream Key.

Don't know what Twitch is. Under Service, there is no 'None' option. Is the current state private?

Shall I also check the "Show confirmation dialog when starting streams" and "Show confirmation dialog when stopping streams"?
