Bug Report Preview gone in 21.1.1

Hello, I'm having a problem in 21.1.1 where my "preview" drop down in the OBS icon isn't there. For my streams I run two monitors with the preview off to the side to see (and read) what is going on live. In 21.0.3 it works fine and I keep downgrading back to that version because I need that capability. So if I'm doing something wrong and someone knows the magic keystrokes to turn it on it would be greatly appreciate. If not maybe it's just a bug that hasn't been recognized?

Thank you!

Duane

Hmm Narcogen that's wild - so you should have it then - man I use it all the time so NOT having that is a problem for me. I wonder if there are others using 21.1.1 that have it working...

For me, left clicking on the OBS menubar item brings the app forward. Right clicking it does nothing. Same behavior in 21.0.3 as 21.1.1.

I believe I also saw that dropdown menu before, but I could no longer remember which version it was.
However, there is a "fullscreen projector (preview)" option by right clicking on the preview window when you're on studio mode
and a "fullscreen projector (program)" on the program window.

Yes, but I get the same preview options in studio mode in both 21.0.3 and 21.1.1; right clicking on the Preview window gives options for windowed and fullscreen Preview; right clicking on the Program window gives options for windowed and fullscreen Program view.

Perhaps with both versions installed, create an additional ordinary user account and compare the UI between the two versions? I'm not seeing any difference between these two on my side.

Yeah, definitely not seeing that on this side. Suggest making a blank user; I suspect a corrupted preference file.

Cool I'm going to try that when I get home!

Okay so the right click on the preview in the main window brought up the options and that worked. So THANK YOU for that suggestion I never realized I could get to that there.

I also tried to log into another account on the computer and tried the menu dock and it did the same thing - just toggled the OBS main window on and off and never showed the dropdown. But at least I was able to run my Tuesday live tonight.

Thanks again for the suggestions - I hope they do fix the menu dock drop down though but at least I have a work around!

I am confused. I've gone back to OBS Studio 17.0.2 (on Windows - I don't have a Mac to test) looking for the system tray option that you're talking about, but I don't see it. Could someone please provide a screenshot and a clear explanation of exactly what system tray menu that is present in an older version that is not present in the current version?

Toplanci mention it above and his screen shots is exactly what was happening to me. In 21.0.3 in the top right of the menu bar, where the OBS icon was when I would "click it" a drop down menu would appear with the options in his screen shot. When I did the same thing in 21.1.1 it would not show the drop down menu AND it would turn off the main OBS window.

The "work-around" that toplanci mentioned, clicking on the source window in the main OBS application had the commands I was looking for Fullscreen Projector (Preview) and Windowed Projector (Preview). I always just used the drop down and never noticed the options before.

On Windows, left-clicking on the system tray icon toggles OBS' hide/show status. To get the dropdown/context menu from the system tray icon, I have to right-click (control-click / command-click on Mac?). At least, this is how it behaves on Windows.

On the current macOS build, after this commit, it seems that setContextMenu is no longer called on the system tray icon, which may have produced the change in behavior that you're seeing. I don't know what the standard behavior is on macOS for apps with toolbar/systray icons. I also don't know how previous macOS builds reacted differently to left clicks and right clicks on the systray icon (if they were even distinguished at all).

yeah RytoEx that is what it USED to do on the older version - although I didn't see a difference with the right or left click on mine - the worked the same. 21.0.3 showed the menu (and toggled the main app window on and off) and 21.1.1 just toggled without the menu.

If it showed the menu and toggled the show/hide behavior of OBS with the same click, that was probably buggy behavior. Again though, I don't have a Mac, so you should probably describe very specifically what the behavior was for each action (left-click / right-click) on the version where you felt it worked and where you feel it is broken.

I don't want to hi-jack this thread but since we have the same case with the tray icon, I wonder if the VIEW->MULTIVIEW(Fullscreen) also doesn't show on yours too

The only thing that shows is the icon no menus when you click it. I can try out the multiview tomorrow and let you know. I haven’t used that feature before just not it my workflow.
