Hi guys, this is both a suggestion and a question/help,
There is a problem I am having with bunch of software I am trying to edit my videos with.
I am using VBR - VFR at the same time and loving the visual quality. The problem is when I try to edit the videos with Movie Maker or Sony Vegas Movie Studio, it cannot detect the right settings for the given mp4 and even if I do it manually, there is massive quality loss. I think there is something called smart edit that is to cut and merge videos without re-encoding certain parts and I have been unable to do that on Sony Vegas Movie Studio. Maybe there should be a drop-down box that is basically a preset for certain editing software to make it compatible with smart edit (or whatever they call it).
MKVMerge is able to cut without re-encoding but it's very limited. It can do 5 seconds interval (I guess depends on the compression algorithm) and it's very limited.
So does anyone know the best settings for Sony Vegas so that I don't lose quality in 1080p at 50 or 60Hz and I can do fast editing.
