Hello OBS Devs !

I want to thank you for a very nice program Linux needed so much. I know there are other methods to stream on Linux, but non of them are as clean and uncomplicated as OBS.

OBS works flawless on my Linux system, using OBS 0.7.2 (linux):

Of course, because of that relatively weak processor i can not stream games. I haven't a dedicated video card. But i can stream anything else, even youtube videos with OBS settings like 1920x1080 scaled to 1280x720, 30fps, video bitrate 2500 amd audio bitrate at 192.
I use dual monitor set up. OBS hasnt shown any problems with that.

Desktop recordings are working very well, too.

Developers, if you need any more information, let me know.
And don't stop developing, it is working very well at this poing, but i believe i just didnt found the bugs :D .

Hey man I noticed you're using Manjaro, I'm on arch and was wondering --is there a game capture option like in windows or am I to use screen/window capture? or am I missing a dependency? i have ffmpeg installed and everything seemed to work correctly when compiling from the AUR repository

Hi Blackhive,

i have no "Game Capture" option in OBS, but i tried to stream Counter Strike Source, while CSS is in window mode and OBS captures the window. It worked flawless, with the exception, that my Intel Celeron G1840 is too slow :D .
But i want to add the Celeron is only too slow for games. Streaming in general even of videos works without any frame drops and i dont have a dedicated video card. Just sayin'.

I have the following options as sources in OBS 0.7.2 (linux):

- picture
- screen capture record (XSHM)
- window capture record (Xcomposite)
- audio input record (Pulse Audio)
- audio output record (Pulse Audio)
- video (V4L2)
- 20x20 random pixel texture source (test)
- sinewave sound source (test)
- Text (freetype2)

so no game capture mode.

I installed OBS through AUR as well. I did nothing else, it worked out of the box.

The window capture option (through XComposite) is the one that you want to use for game capturing. There is no separate "game capture" option even on Linux Mint 17 (an Ubuntu derivative).
The window capture option will do what game capture does in the old OBS.

i use xscreen capture because I have a dual monitor setup. there's some ramifications with this but it appears like that doesn't matter to many people. i'm special, my mom told me.

I love OBS, works great in Xubuntu 14.04.1. I also run it in Arch but haven't been using Arch because I need a more stable OS due to requiring a stable production environment which won't break with any updates to anything. I love Arch for bleeding edge stuff though.
