Bug Report Poor performance since 19.0.2

I've been noticing really bad performance when I do my morning show and 100% CPU usage when I have Chrome and other browsers opened alongside OBS Studio and I'll see input lag from my webcams. I think I will be downgrading to OBS Studio version 18.0.1 because of the performance issues and the 9 counts of memory leaking.

There is nothing in the log showing that it is 19.0.2 as the root cause.

Now answer the question.

Because several antivirus applications are known to cause problems.

You also have a massively excessive number of game capture sources that could all be tripping over each other,

I never had an issue until this newest update. All I ask is for the developer to look into it.

From your logs:

Code:
12:00:08.299: Output 'adv_stream': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 4156 (2.4%)
12:00:08.299: Output 'adv_stream': Number of dropped frames due to insufficient bandwidth/connection stalls: 30 (0.0%)
12:00:08.299: Video stopped, number of skipped frames due to encoding lag: 236/177039 (0.1%)

Lagged frames generally means your GPU is overloaded. Make sure you're capping FPS in the games you're playing.
Dropped frames is you connection, but this number isn't enough to really worry about.
Skipped frames means your CPU was overloaded, but this is not really enough to worry about either.

So, the primary cause of your issues is that your GPU is being overloaded.

Also, as mentioned, you have entirely too many game capture sources. You do not need a new source for every game. Use the hotkey method of capture if you change games often. That many game capture sources in the same scene can, and will, cause performance issues.

During my morning show, I wasn't using all those captures. I have a 980 Ti 6GB card, I am surprised it's having an issue.

Just them being present is enough to put strain on your system. You should really remove all but a single game capture source per scene collection.

If that were true I would've this issue in the older verisons. It's leaking memory and I still say this update has major issues and it NEEDS FIXING!

Instead of arguing about it, can you please just try and provide a new log? Create a new scene collection for testing if you don't want to mess with your current setup.

Use the Scene Collection menu at the top of OBS, select New, and call it "Testing". Then, add the bare minimum amount of sources you need to run a quick test.

I'll see what I can do. I just feel like no one is believing me. I understand bugs can happen which is why I was trying to explain the after effect of the update.

EDIT: I found a previous version of OBS I am just gonna revert to and just wait till someone else reports the same issue, OR I will wait for more updates to come out. I don't really feel like messing around just to find out what the issue is, I've already uploaded one log of the issue and it DID STATE that there were 9 memory leaks which is when the performance started going down hill.

Also memory leaks have nothing to do with performance, they would only affect performance if your system were actually running out of memory.

Taking that route isn't likely to get the problem fixed in any way.

I beg to differ. I have said through this whole thread that my issue started AFTER update 19.0.2 and no one here believes me at all. version 18.0.1 never leaked memory and didn't cause me lag. I fail to understand why no one here gets that at all? I have reverted back to 18.0.1 and will test things tonight to prove my point. I don't mean to get hostile but it's very frustrating when you have to repeat yourself because you feel like no one understands the differences in the versions and the issues being caused.

Do you know what a memory leak is? Can you define it for us please?

If you could, you'd understand why a memory leak has nothing to do with performance, and is completely unrelated. Nobody is saying you're not having issues, but you're pointing fingers at something that doesn't exist and crying wolf. You're asking for us to trust you, so show a little trust in kind.

I asked you to test something for me, and you're getting defensive about it and claiming it can't be the issue without even trying. Certain things were changed with how priorities work in 19.0.2, and that many game capture sources has been known to cause issues. We see hundreds of people reporting configuration issues every day, we see a lot more and have a lot more experience with this kind of stuff.

Please, just be patient and try what we ask you to do. Even if it doesn't work, it eliminates a potential cause and we can move on in the troubleshooting process. We can't just magically snap our fingers and fix your issue. You need to be willing to work with us to help figure out what it even is.

I have the same issue since version 19.0.2 while recording. Performance decreased by about 20 frames at least on the same settings, same pc, same game and graphic settings... Should i switch back to previous version of OBS or it wont help?

Your issue is not related, please create your own thread and provide full details on the issues you are having. Make sure you include a log file
