Question / Help Plus music locally but not on stream?

Hi...

I've been struggling with finding a way to choose which audio sources play to my stream vs. just play to my headphones.

Aka, sometimes I want to listen to music but not have it play on the stream... or have another streamer previewed in a different window.

I figure this shouldn't be that difficult to adjust which sound sources go to OBS or not but I can't seem to figure it out.

Any help would be much appreciated.

OBS Captures audio by device not per application. The way I set this up is I have a number of audio output devices in my system (Things like Digital Out, Optical Out, Speakers, even my mic has an output audio device) so I set the programs I want to capture audio for to use one of the output devices that aren't hooked up to speakers/headphones. Then in OBS Studio in Settings > Audio I set the Desktop Audio Device, or devices to the ones I pointed those applications to. I specifically leave my headphones off the selected audio devices in OBS. I can then set my music player or other programs I don't want on stream to use the audio device I have my headphones connected to.

I hope that makes some sense.

It does - but I still think I'm either over complicating it or just configuring something wrong... Any chance you could share a screen shot or even ping me in Discord? Username Schwachs (same on Twitter, etc...)
