Hi I have tried a bunch of configs for recording 4k game. It stutters no matter what i try. Can you please check my config before i start trying to swap hardware out.
The game i am trying to capture is Forza 5 on gamepass.

Thanks,

I don't think it is possible to record 4k60 with OBS without micro stutters because of the limitations introduced by their direct draw approach uses. But with Shadowplay it should work without a problem. Maybe some day OBS will switch to a async model which should scale better with resolutions and at that time you can record 4k60 also with OBS.

1. Change the refresh rate on you monitor/TV from 120 Hz to 60 Hz.
2. The new Windows 10 Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling ("HAGS") added with version 2004 is currently known to cause performance and capture issues with OBS, games and overlay tools. It's a new and experimental feature and we recommend disabling it via these instructions.
3. Set the OBS Audio Sample Rate to 48 kHz.
4. On NVENC, change the Preset from Max Quality to Quality and uncheck the box for Psycho Visual Tuning. These both use additional GPU.
It's generally recommended that you record with CQP instead of CBR.
5. Record to MKV. If you record to MP4 or MOV and the recording is interrupted, the file will be corrupted and unrecoverable. If you require MP4 files for some other purpose like editing, remux them afterwards by selecting File > Remux Recordings in the main OBS Studio window or enable Auto Remux in the Advanced Settings.
6. Cap your games at 60 FPS.
