I am new to obs and want to use it mainly for recording/possibly streaming at a later date. I have a good PC but when i run OBS it is extremely laggy (like 1 frame every couple of seconds). it does this even in the preview screen and even just on my desktop, it takes a second or so just to show me clicking the start button. I have played around with the settings including lowering resolution etc, but it seems clear that i am doing something wrong and it doesn't put any load on my GPU nor my CPU.
