Im trying to record with obs and im getting black bars and low quality in my videos but only the edited ones

i am using windows movie maker and notice a loss in quality when i edit my videos. My videos are recorded in mp4 format while other forums say wmv and avi work best for windows movie maker. I cannot seem to choose to these 2 formats in obs for outputs. the intro itself is .avi and works flawlessly. so basically how do i make my mp4 videos into avi videos and will that fix my problem.

Does the output from OBS Studio play correctly when you use VLC from videolan.org?

If so then the problem is more likely with Windows Movie Maker than anything to do with OBS

that does not solve the loss in quality however (unless it does) how can i record or change my files to avi or wmv?

We provide support for OBS, not your video editing software.

Everything about aspect ratios is explained in the two links I gave earlier. If you use a 16:10 monitor and record a 16:10 video, obviously it will appear as fullscreen on that monitor. The video players used by sites like Twitch and YouTube are 16:9, so if you aren't generating 16:9 content then the videos will have black bars there.

so, if i record a window that is 16:9 on a 16:10 monitor will it show up as 16:9. plz answer that first, like you could have before. would the video file type change quality, the file type is determined in obs, this has little to do with the editing software, can i change the file type in obs to avi or wmv. if i cannot do this in obs are there any programs that are recommended for use with obs for file conversion. Please just answer the questions they are quite simple yet you cant seem to understand that i dont understand. Prefered format for response: question 1: yes or no, question 2: yes or no, question 3: yes or no, recommendation?
sorry if i sound rude im just frustrated at never getting a simple answer for these things

nevermind through messing with the various settings in obs i have found options regarding rescaling output as well as force scaling. thank you for being of no help as the links you provided are not solutions i asked for. when i asked about outputs in obs you would think a MODERATOR for the obs forums would be able to tell me about these now apparently simple functions. id like you to take note and use this post for reference the next time someone is having a similar problem as this can actually help. Thanks for saying i needed to make 16:9 content, that i knew. now if you had told me how to do this in obs settings like you are supposed to "We provide support for OBS" then well this would have been alot easier. Thanks for wasting my time you horrible scrublord.

my other videos i dont edit do not seem to have this problem.
This is what my comment regarding not supporting your video editor was targeted at. If the video loses quality after running it through an editor, or the aspect ratio is changed after running it through an editor (both implying that videos look fine prior to that point), that's on you to resolve.

I provided as much information as I could regarding how aspect ratios work and how to deal with source content that wasn't natively 16:9; all comments from you seemed to indicate that the editing process was the problem.
