Question / Help Playback/Recording Issue

hello! im brand new to OBS and set it up using a youtube tutorial (which i can provide the link to if needed). i did a test recording and in game it went well, but upon viewing my playback it didn't actually record, simply skipped from frame to frame, leaving large chunks in between. audio is completely fine, the issue is just with the video.

Simple output mode, recording quality of indistinguishable, encoder of software low cpu use.
And then downscale your output resolution until you stop skipping frames.
