Question / Help Ping spike no matter what bitrate, 3000 KB/s upload speed.

I already tested the twitch server. I already turned off wireless.

I tried from 2500 to 1000 bitrates. I can't stop getting ping spikes.. It's 20~30 then jumps to 70~80. Happens all the time. The ping never stays the same.

CPU load is very low and the upload from OBS is not going over 1900. But I'm getting lag spikes even with 1000 bitrates and about 1200 KB/s of upload.

I don't know what else I can try... please help. I looked for it everywhere and it says I should be able to stream...

Are you sure that your upload speed is stable?
And we need logs from OBS to tell what is going on.

Ping spikes are usually a good indicator of an overloaded connection, you push it to the limit. If you get 3MB/s stable upload, streaming at 2500 would be fine, but could sometimes create ping spikes.
More data on your connection please. 3000 is rather low for a streamer, you want more to make sure everything works and your connection is not crippled once you start streaming.

The upload is constant. Even if it wasn't, there's not a single second in-game that my ping don't oscillates.

I tested it on the twitch server test, on speedtest.net and on mytest.net.

With 480p and 1000 bitrates I was still getting ping spikes. Anything from 30 to 55. All the time.

Alright, I streamed for few seconds with 2000 bitrate 720p. Ping all the time going from 42 to 70. 42, 48, 60, 52, etc..

Here's the log https://gist.github.com/anonymous/a2dc98d3737c35cc0fbbda006020d90e

Thanks a lot for your help.

Ok just wanted to say I switched to OBS Classic and now I'm streaming even in 30 FPS with barely any ping difference, much less spikes. 2200 bitrate and 2600 buffering and I'm going to improve even more, trying 60 FPS right now.

Something is really wrong with my OBS Studio settings and I can't find out. Also the OBS Classic helped me much more configure it than the OBS Studio did, giving tips etc.

I'm going to try once more on OBS Studio and change every single thing I can find to match the OBS Classic options, but I'm pretty sure I did it before.

Anyway, thanks a lot.

Edit: Confirmed. The options that both have I put it EXACTLY the same and my ping wouldn't stop spiking in game, while in OBS Classic it stays around 30~ constant.

If you guys want for further understanding (dunno if this is a common problem), I can take print of every tab in both of them.

I'll do it so you guys see if it's some silly mistake I made or something to be improved in OBS Studio.

My problem is solved if I just use OBS Classic, but if I can use OBS Studio instead it would be better, of course!

So here it's;

OBS Classic log: https://gist.github.com/2588c49ff1104cc42903cf9fb55628bc

OBS Studio log: https://gist.github.com/d3bf7b242627796df84d81f28c5c0fce

MyTest: http://testmy.net/qDnIStfTx.png

SpeedTest: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5725949058

Twitch Bandwidth Test: http://i.imgur.com/Z1ojYFW.png (I use the South America: São Paulo, Brazil).

28~33 ping while using OBS Classic, 2100 bitrate, 2400 buffer size, 720p 60 FPS.

Anything from 50 to 90 ping spikes all the time with OBS Studio.

I hope this is enough info to help.

Well your connection is far from perfect, this is why twitch bandwith test shows pretty low quality numbers. But i have no idea at this point why Classic works fine and Studio drop frames.

Definitely far from perfect but it runs 100% on OBS Classic and it's unplayable on OBS Studio.

Also the frames are fine, the problem is the latency.

Thanks for your attention, I'll stay with OBS Classic until something changes.
