Question / Help Perfect FPS while gaming but lag spikes when stream.

Hi there! I'm relatively new to the forum and to streaming itself but I understand how to setup everything to stream. Recently I bought a new GPU because I thought my old GPU was not strong enough to stream (GTX 750ti) So I got a GTX 960 and saw some youtube videos of people streaming with is perfectly fine. Buttttt this is not the case for me... When I stream the lag spikes are inconsistent and performances under task manager shows no spikes or changes in anything. My build is as follows:
AMD Fx- 8350
Nvidia GTX 960
8gb ram

If anyone has any ideas or help thanks in advanced!

If you're running without vsync or some type of frame rate limiter (e.g. fps_max set to a reasonable value in CS:GO) then you're probably maxing out your GPU. Unlike Shadowplay, OBS is a compositor and requires some spare GPU power to function well.

What do you recommend I do? Like should I run vsync or what FPS should I max it to.

If you don't mind using vsync, use vsync. If you don't like using vsync, use some other type of frame rate limiter. The goal is to keep your GPU from maxing out.
