Hello all,

In few months, i will get a really good internet connexion so in this case i would like to start streaming. I plan to use my main computer to play and to build another one to stream but i don't know what the minimal requirements for OBS Studio running with at least one browser open.

I don't want to spend a lot for this one this why i'm asking for the " minimal ".

I have another question related to the capture card. What people are mostly using ? What is your recommandation ?

Thank you by advance. My english is bad. My apologize for it.

You probably want an i7 for your streaming CPU, or a Ryzen 5 or 7. You want your streaming PC to be a tower design, not a laptop, so that you can use a PCIe capture card, not USB. USB capture devices have all kinds of problems. Avermedia and Elgato seem to be the most popular, but you might check ebay for a cheap Datapath or Magewell capture card instead.

I personally use a Datapath, but their issue for most people is that unless you get an "AV" model, they don't do audio over HDMI. So instead I route audio separately to a Sound Blaster card in my streaming PC. Their advantage is that you can find them very inexpensively on ebay, check the last few posts in the thread I linked.

There are also ways to stream over your LAN instead of via a capture card, but this requires running OBS on your gaming PC too.

NDI is also popular choice if you want to hold out on spending money on a cheap capture card until you save up for the more expensive ones

Thank you for the reply.

It look a bit expensive just to broadcast. Don't you think that one upgrade to 6 core processor like the i7 8700k will be worth it to play and stream on the same pc ? I'm looking for the good combinaison between good performance in game and the minimal investment. I'm only playing PUBG at this time.

My rig :

i7 7700k
MSI Z270 Pro Carbon
MSI GTX 1080 Ti
Corsair RAM 16Go - 3000 Mhz
SSD Samsung 500Go

I think the Ryzen 1800X would be slighty better due to have 2 more cores though? for close to that price range. You will lose game FPS but better at encoding I think.
