Hi i need to upgrade my pc so i was thinking of using it as a second computer just to do the encoding to stream to twitch.

Its a i5 2400k, quite old now & hd5850 graphics card.

I don't want to spend loads on my gaming pc so i was gonna go - Amd fx 8350 or higher if they do one and a good graphics card

Will that work. Will the i5 cope being the second pc.I will be streaming games like bf4 and the new one coming out.

I would wait for Zen and Kaby Lake.
Old FX CPUs do an ok job at encoding video but are actually not faster than your 2400k in games. Every modern i7 will run in circles around the old AMD CPU.
So if you go for a gaming rig, you definetly want an i5 right now, i would start with the 6600k. Or you wait for the new stuff.

Zen - 2017 somewhere. Probably summer where you can actually buy one and the prices are somewhat stable.
Intel could release it sooner, but again - you run into 250$ for a decent i5 with unlocked multi and close to 400$ for an i7. So prepare your wallet if you want an Intel like your old i5.

Best get saving then :) Thanks

Np. Just take a look, look twice and dont jump on the hypetrain for new hardware. I can tell you that as an enthusiast - there is a lot that can go south.
If Zen turns out to be somewhat decent, you could get something between 8 and 16 cores for under 500$ in the best case and this will boost video encoding so hard... As an i7 5820k owner i can tell you - extra cores and threads are so worth it for streaming, even if your CPU has less horsepower per core. Most games work well with modern CPUs with many cores, only few games still demand a high clocked quadcore and dont benefit from more than 4 threads/cores at all.
In that case you could get rid of your old PC for streaming.
I know 2 PCs have some benefits, but drawbacks like power draw, heat output, noise and the need to switch between PCs to control everything - thats too much for me. I go with 1 powerful rig over 2 PCs for streaming. Specially in freakin Germany where 1kWh will hit me with 0,29€ on my electricity bill :D
