Question / Help Pasting as duplicate instead of reference

Hi, I’m trying to paste a duplicate (instead of a reference) but OBS won’t allow me to- it greys out the option to paste as a duplicate. Could you please help me figure out whats going on and how to paste as a duplicate?


After i copy any type of source in OBS, the option is always greyed out in both the right click menu and menu bar (pics below).

I think it worked before and it would be helpful to be able to use now, am i doing something wrong? How do i make it work?

What software version do you use?

I'm using 20.1.0.


btw- I just checked the site and see a new version was released a couple of weeks ago. I have "automatically check for updates on startup" enable in OBS settings, wondering why it didn't alert me of the update and if i should try manually updating/redownloading (though im not sure if that would cause me to lose all my scenes etc).

Can anyone please offer some input about this? I'm still experiencing this issue and not sure what to do.


Also, can you please offer some advice about updating OBS? I'm considering upgrading to the newest version to see if it fixes this issue, but OBS seems to think that its fully updated already. The website says that 20.1.1 is available since the 26th of oct, but OBS says its up to date when i check for updates (pic below). Why is this happening? Is there is an issue here?

Should i forget about manually updating or should i try manually installing from the website? If i manually install from the website, would it remember all of my scenes/settings in OBS or would i need to manually re-create them again?

Updating, removing or reinstalling does not remove scenes and profiles.

Those are stored in ~/Application Support/obs-studio
