Question / Help [Partially solved] Static webcam image in OBS 0.14.2 - please help

I'm running OBS under Linux Mint using a Logitec C170 webcam, and since I got the upgrade to OBS 0.14.1 I've noticed that the webcam video output is significantly laggier than on the previous version even in 'preview' mode without broadcasting.

The webcam video has the same good performance in other apps like Cheese and Skype, so it seems to be an OBS issue - maybe there's a configuration item I need to update for the new version?

Update: This is ridiculous. I got the update today for OBS 0.14.2, and now the webcam image is completely static, no moving video at all in preview mode let alone streaming

The webcam does perfect video in Cheese, so it's definitely an OBS problem.

Okay, I've managed to narrow down the problem - it seems to be to do with the Desktop/Windows Manager.
The webcam image issue happens in 17.3 Mint MATE when using any windows manager other than Compiz - when Compiz is selected, the webcam image displays motion as expected.
OBS 0.15.4 also seems to be working now under Mint 17.3 Cinnamon with the webcam displaying motion.
