Paid development for OBS Studio/Mac?

I'm associated with a university-level project that may wish to have some changes made to OBS, and/or plugins. Is this kind of funded work allowed and accepted by the community? If there are any experienced developers out there willing to take on this kind of work, please contact me. We have no problem with the result remaining in the open-source repository.

Not yet perfectly clear, but probably some simplification of the UI. Our end-user will be a presenter/ lecturer making annotations over a PDF or other application windows. Current "producer" level of complexity is too much for that case.
