Does anyone know if there is a converter box or something that would convert the stream to an HDMI signal? I'd like to use OBS as a simple vision mixer.

No idea. This really isn't an intended application for OBS. If the TV has something connected to it that is capable of either running a browser or a media player like VLC, then that would work, but I've had very limited success in getting it to stream to set top boxes. I know others who have succeeded in getting it to stream to Roku boxes, but they did so by programming their own Roku channel.

I presume the TV is too far away from the computer running OBS to just run an HDMI cable?

I used to do this - I had a thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and I would output that to a 46" LCD/TV on a roller stand. I would have it show the broadcast on that screen and it worked well. I haven't done that in a while as I'm using 2 22" monitors and I just have the preview stream show in a segment on one of the monitors. I would just tell OBS to output a "full screen" project preview to the HDMI display.

The other thing I did do and it worked okay was with an Apple TV on the remote display and did airplay to get the display over there.

Not sure if that is what you're talking about so maybe I'm missing what you're asking.
