Question / Help Output stutters while recording some demanding games

Hey there,

recently got a new laptop and I've been using OBS to record. But I'm having a hard time solving why I'm getting stuttering in the output of the recording in some games.

Intel Core i5-6200U @ 2.30GHz
8GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 940M w/ 4GB VRAM

Simple games record fine, like Stardew valley and most indie/2D games

3D games like vampire: bloodlines, Dark Souls 1 and L4D2 record fine

But stuff like the first Bioshock, Outlast, Brawlhalla(for some reason) and Payday 1 stutter massively in the output. Even though they're actually running very well.

I've tinkered with the recording both in Simple mode and advanced output mode without any luck. I just don't know enough about OBS.

The settings I've been using for a while are:

Recording Quality: High Quality, Medium File Size
Format: MP4
Encoder: Software (x264)

I could swear that I posted this before, but I must not have. Any help would be awesome.

Thanks!

Edit: It's also records fine with Penumbra: Overture

Okay I found the logs. I'll include the latest one, but I'm not sure what it was recording.

I took a look through it and saw it said NVENC is supported, but when I tried that setting nothing happened. It wouldn't even start recording so I assumed it wasn't supported.
As well as the fact that it couldn't find the VLC installation. But that probably doesn't have much to do with the recording.
