Hi there,
Today I purchased an Elgato HD60, and connected it to my PC and Playstation 4 console.
Using OBS, I configured the Elgato HD60 to "Output audio to stream only" and it was perfect. Audio/Video were great.
The only problem is, I want the game audio to play through my PC headset - not my Playstation headset.
When streaming, I want to be able to listen to all of the things my stream can hear - music, twitch alerts, discord/skype chat, etc.
I discovered that I could accomplish all of this simply by ticking the "Output audio to desktop" radio button in OBS (and i ticked the "Use WaveOut audio renderer" box for good measure, too).
This is perfect! Now I can wear my PC headset, listen to YouTube, chat with friends and have my game audio come through the PC headset... except there is one small problem. The audio I'm hearing in my headset is about 1.5 seconds out of sync with what I'm doing in game. It's not a problem for the stream viewers - buffering and offsets and all that jazz allows me to create a seamless experience for them. But in my own ears, it's a nightmare. I can't possibly play games while hearing everything 2 seconds after it happened. Is this simply a limitation of the technology? Is there no way I can hear them in real-time through the PC headset?
I've been researching this problem for a few hours and the best suggestion I found was to use OBS Studio instead. I grabbed it, set it up, and used the "Output dektkop audio (WaveOut) feature - same problem unfortunately.
At this stage I'm guessing my best bet is to just accept that I can't have it all coming through the one headset in realtime, and use a pair of earbuds connected to the PS4 with my PC headset over the top, or something like that?
Can you please confirm if this is the case. :)
Thanks kindly in advance.
