Question / Help Out of sync audio, not sure if hardware or software problem?

Thanks for reading!

I'm having a weird problem with OBS. I use it to capture from a Logitech C920. I record in front of a green screen for YouTube, so getting the right capture from the webcam is important. I pull at 1080p, and I run a usb mic, both into a 2011 Macbook Pro with 8gbs of RAM. The Mac version of OBS doesn't seem to work for me at all, so I bootcamp into Windows. I don't game or anything, the laptop is dedicated just to video capture.

Everything looks good, and at first it works well. But as I work with it, the audio starts to get out of sync. Sometimes it comes and goes, other times it will be out of sync at all times. Once in a while it will work perfectly and I get beautiful audio and video that's exactly what I need.

It's very frustrating! I guess that laptop is getting old, can it just not handle all that data coming in through USB? Or is this something I could fix with a setting?

I think it's probably not hardware, because I can capture at 1080p with my USB mic in Logitech's Quick Capture and the audio sync is perfect! Unfortunately, that software seems to put some kind of goofy compression on its output files because nothing ever keys out right.

Sorry for writing so much! I didn't see anyone else with quite this problem, so I wanted to make sure I provided enough detail.

have you tried disabling any date time stamps on your devices, that should fix the audio delay. if not, i don't know.

Thank you so much for the suggestion. I have no idea what you're talking about, so I probably haven't tried that before. I will Google it to see how to do it and see if that fixes the problem.

Ok, I disabled time stamp on my mic. It seems like it might be better, but it's not quite right. Can you disable the time stamps for the web cam too? Or is that just an audio thing? I don't see it in the options for the video source.

Thanks again!

not as such, the cogwheel, in the mixer, on the webcam audio, press it, then select properties, for audio, set buffering to auto-detect(its sort of towards the bottom of the settings), set it to match your webcam output fps & you can also use another mic/device, in the audio output mode settings, if you still have the problem.
