Original mkv files and remuxed mkv files only go into Premiere Pro as audio - any way around that?

I have Premier Pro as part of my Adobe package so I'd like to use it if I can. I record how-to videos in OBS but I can't edit themin Premiere Pro because it won't read .mkv files and it won't read the remuxed version either. Am I doing something wrong or is there another fix? Thanks

You should probably be remuxing into MP4 (simply writes new envelope, doesn't actually change video at all)
Make sure the OBS Studio Recording encoding settings you use for your Video (if not using Simple mode) are compatible with Premier Pro. OBS Studio lets you create video with any number of settings/options, not all of which every video supports
