Option to record a file per scene switch

Hello,

As far as I can tell, it is not possible to configure OBS to save the recording on a per scene basis. I would like to have the recording switched to a new file when I switch a scene while recording. This can be a global option, or a per scene option.

The main reason I would like this is so I can add custom transitions between the scenes later. I know that I can do transitions in OBS but I need more flexibility. For example, if I record and go through few scenes and then need to pause and restart, I know have two files that also need the same transition between them. I probably can do something similar in ffmpeg after the fact but if I want to redo all the transitions a different way I now have OBS transitions in the files that I need to somehow remove. The best I can do right now is to stop the recording and restart every time I need to switch to a different scene to get separate files.

Also, having the ability to have individual files every time I switch a scene will allow me to open my folder on the side and every time I don't like how the scene recording when I can do a brief switch to a "retake" scene and then back to the same scene to redo it and I can also quickly delete the bad scene file in the open file browser at the same time.

The end result is that I will have a chronological list of files with each representing a recording from one scene. I can then merge them together with custom scripts to automate the file video encoding. This will help me avoid having to use an editor as much as possible.

Does anyone have such a workflow? How do you currently implement it in OBS?

Thanks,
Shahim
