Opening OBS 30.1.1 makes internet tv picture go dark. Mac OS Ventura 13.6.4.

Hi,
I've had this issue before (several years ago.), but now it's back. Unfortunately, I don't remember what I did to fix it. I am watching the tv feed on my browser, start up OBS then the screen goes black. When I close out of OBS the picture comes back! Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Probably adopts a system similar to the one used by Netflix, namely DRM (Digital Rights Management), to protect its content.
So it's normal for you to see the black screen. In fact, when you turn off OBS, the video is restored.

Thank You Everest2024 You're probably 100% right, but what puzzles me is that the same thing happened to me a few years back and then one day it worked again! Unfortunately, I don't remember what fixed it. Maybe an OBS upgrade or something software related? I do understand the reason for the drm, but the funny thing is I don't record any t.v., but sometimes I will join the cast of my favorite t.v. or local news shows via green screen just for fun! LOL. Now, I just have internet t.v. on in the backround while I multitask. Thanks again.

Everest2024: You're absolutely right! I wanted to make a tutorial with a clean OBS, so I created a new profile and a new scene. I had my internet t.v. on and it did not make the screen go dark. However, as soon as I set up "MacOS screen capture" the screen went dark. I deleted "MacOS screen capture" and the internet t.v. came back on as normal. This is good news, because I always have my t.v. on in the background while using OBS. I don't need to record anything from the t.v.......one further note, the DRM prevents any internet t.v. to be used. I tried other browsers and even my iPhone! Thanks for putting me in the right direction.
