Open Composite Error

Hello,

I wanted to try to record some gameplay in VR on my Rift S in IL2 Sturmovik. I saw on threads using OBS was the way to go with a plug-in for Open VR to have better control on what you want to record, etc. I followed the steps in a Youtube video to install everything and when I opened OBS and selected Source and OpenVR Capture it shoots an error:

"OpenComposite DLLMain ERROR: Cannot init VR: unsupported apptype 3"

No idea what this means or why it popped up. Any ideas or advise? Thanks.

If your game is running through Oculus Home, it is not using Valve's OpenVR standard, so the OpenVR plugin isn't going to be compatible.
If the game is using Oculus' proprietary, closed-source, closed-standard VR API, you're a bit out of luck.

Thanks for the reply. Based on what you said I figured it out. I was using Oculus Home. Simply opened Steam VR and then loaded OBS and the OpenVR plug-in and it fired up perfectly. Now I just need to fiddle with the pre-sets to get the right orientation. The video I record seems to be "too high" than what I'm looking at in VR. Thanks again!
