As a son trying to help my college-basketball-crazed mother, I had it setup where she could record her DVR'd basketball games from DirecTV into a HDMI splitter, one going to the TV, the other to a HDMI dongle into a laptop. So she can watch them again later to make room on the DVR. Whatever will make her happy, right1? This is setup with OBS of course, and we haven't had any real issues until recent broadcasts.
I am only able to get the 'voice' audio off the HDMI signal. As in, just the announcer during the game and just the 'voice' audio track off a commercial. No music, no background noise, nothing. Just straight voice audio. All tracks are selected through the mic/aux line.
So, my question is, what might be causing this? No amounts of restarts of the laptop and updating OBS seems to fix this. I've also tried other software and can only hear the 'voice' audio in those too. Or is it the 'security' of DirecTV preventing it? Or is the HDMI to USB-C adapter glitching? Bad cable?
