Good morning all,
I'm currently in a hotel room 3 hours from home bashing my head against a brick wall!
When I first started streaming about 4 years ago, I used my gaming laptop to stream for the first few years.
I've grabbed this same gaming laptop to bring on a trip with me, so I could continue to stream to Twitch.
Previously I streamed using the inbuilt (no old) nVidia graphics card. Before my trip, I checked that I had updated OBS, but found no updates for the graphics drivers (either game-ready or studio) since 2019. No worries, it's now an old machine, but should still be capable of streaming my face & my microphone.
Except OBS tells me every time I go live, that I need to update my graphics drivers. Now I'm 99.9% sure that I was hardware and not software encoding back in the day, in fact until last night, I have never used software encoding, and I now realise why.
I know there was a phase where on my main streaming setup at home, I could choose Old or New nVidia encoding, although it now shows only one. I wonder if that way be the issue, or if I'm overlooking something, or if there's a limit on the age of the cards/graphics drivers that can now be used in OBS.
I've had a trawl through this forum, youtube, reinstalled windows, graphics drivers & OBS, still to no avail. Hence banging my head against the wall.
I've got another couple of days here, and if I have to, I'll stick to software encoding, but it is starting to mess with my brain now, did I remember right, have I missed something silly or is this laptop just too old now to be useful. So I'm throwing myself on your mercy guys. Any ideas?
Log attached (Obviously not full because I cannot actually go live with this setup) https://obsproject.com/logs/HRvKKyeE4oRG70XJ
