Old Video Source Names

Hello!

I have been using OBS for about a year. As I experimented I ended up creating and removing video sources. When I go to name a video source sometimes I get the message telling me the name already exist, even though I cannot find it in the list of video sources. Where does OBS store the names of video sources and is that list cleanable somehow?

In answering please note that my skill level is high, but I am not a java programmer.

Scenes and sources share the same namespace, so it isn't possible to have a source with the same name as a scene.

Names are global over all scenes, so if you create a new scene and switch to that scene, you cannot create a new source in that new scene with the same name used by a different source in a different scene.

However, you can add an existing source as many times as you want by using the "add existing" option at source creation. Sources added this way all share the same name. You're not actually adding a new source this way, you're only adding an additional reference to the existing one.

Thanks! What I am looking to do is clean out the video sources I have already created. I can find no where to delete them, or where they are stored. Any information would help.

If you want to start over completely from scratch, you can create a new Scene Collection, and then delete the old one. Likewise for the Profile if you need to reset that too.
