Question / Help Oddly Increased CPU Usage

Hey y'all, question. So Saturday I recorded a bunch of video and didn't notice any particular stuttering or high CPU usage.

Then Sunday comes, and Everspace is stuttering all over the place. I look and see OBS using about 50% of my CPU, which seems unusual. I therefore just did a test.

This is Everspace with the x264 set to veryfast:

And this is Everspace using superfast, the next setting up.

(this was after reading the pinned thread from 2015)

There was a maybe 25-30% difference in CPU usage. The only thing that's changed on my system, that I'm aware of, is a recent Windows update. I updated my Nvidia drivers. No dice. I also reinstalled a previous version, 20.1.1, after someone else reported similar issues with 20.1.3, but it didn't change anything.

I'm attaching my dxdiag file so you can see my specs. It's not the fastest PC in the world, but it runs most games with no issue, and until the other day, had no issues with OBS that a reinstall didn't solve.

Therefore any help would be greatly appreciated. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thank you!

You are using more cpu-intensive settings for recording, so yes that will use more CPU. And you are also using NVENC (GPU) for streaming and x264 (CPU) for recording.
